I plan on making our cake toppers using wooden pegs purchased on Etsy. They will look a little something like this.
The level of detail I will be using is yet to be decided....I may do a few mock-ups to figure out which would work best. These lil' things will only cost us $6.00 to make for the two. Hurray for being creative and determined to save cash!

Things are a changin'..
Do to a sudden circumstance, costs must be cut on our wedding. We've decided to cut the cost in places where it would also save us a lot of time. Those lovely Vinyl 45's I posted earlier..you can scroll down to see what I'm talking about...are not going to see fruition. Instead, we've decided to make these babies.
There will be a chalkboard telling people where they can find their table and their very own butterfly [I'm sure the guys are really going to dig this detail..lol. Weddings are more for the ladies anyhow!]. Now we're wondering about colors. Should we make them colorful or should we make them off white? If we went with color there would be a mixture of red, orange, yellow, and purple butterflies.
Help!

Saving Green Two Ways
We've debated for a while on whether we want to print out programs or not and we've finally decided against it. We'll be having a framed chalk board set up with the information for guests...sort of like this one:
We may even have one for the buffet menu as well. We're trying to cut costs as well as cutting the paper waste. How many people do you know actually KEEP the programs from weddings or the menus? I never have...I know, that may or may not make me a bad person. I'm making up for my waste in the past by not wasting in the present.
What do you guys think?...good idea?

A little something extra...
Some couple decide on candle lighting, some on sand pouring, and others on log sawing...we've decided to partake in the love letter box ceremony.
I'll explain it for those of you who have never heard of such a thing...The couple chooses a box [preferably one that will fit two wine glasses, a bottle of wine, and two letters.]. Each writes the other a love letter and they place it in the box along with the glasses and wine, their wedding party [bridesmaids/groomsmen] nail the box shut. If at any time during the marriage the couple hit a exceptionally rocky moment they are to pry open the box, sit together drinking wine and reading their letters to each other.
We love any excuse to drink wine!

Deciding on centerpieces was quite the mission. We had so many ideas both simple and complex. Then logic kicked in and we realized that they also had to be cheap considering our economic situation.
When I think cheap, I think DIY.
